National Art Honor Society
In August 2007, Mount Saint Charles Fine Arts Department began a chapter of the National Art Honor Society. This organization is part of the National Art Education Association. Its goal is to help promote and encourage the visual arts in the school and the surrounding community. NAHS seeks to aid members in working toward the attainment of their highest potential in art. Its purpose is to inspire and recognize those students who have shown outstanding ability in art.
Membership is based upon art scholarship, service, and character. To be eligible for selection in the chapter, the candidate must have been in attendance for one semester of art in high school, must have maintained a minimum of 3.0 GPA and must have been recommended by an art faculty of the school who is a member of the National Art Education Association.
During the past school year members of the NAHS participated in numerous activities which included designing and selling notecards, making crafts that were to distributed to the elderly in nearby nursing homes, creating an installation exhibit for Fine Arts week and organizing the first annual NAHS art show.
